“Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.” ~William A. Foster

There are more food choices than ever today than ever before.  Food is everywhere- homes, restaurants, work, gas stations, sporting events, cafeterias, grocery stores.  Food comes in all shapes and sizes- round, square, large, small, long, short. Some take 30 seconds to prepare, some even 24 hours.  It can be stupid easy or extremely difficult to prepare certain dishes.  Most importantly, food can come in a range of good and bad quality. Foods can hurt or help you! Choosing quality over convenience can make a huge difference in changing the way you look, feel, and weigh.

Most people buy foods based solely on cost.  They choose the lowest price and do not think anything of it. These foods tend to be the easiest to prepare, too.   The y usually can be eaten straight from the container or just our=t of the microwave.  More often than not, the cheaper foods have less nutritional value.  Foods that cost less typically are high in simple carbohydrates, fat, sugars, calories,and/or salts.  They are low in vitamins, minerals, fiber, and water.  they may taste fantastic and be convenient, but bring negative results!

Instead of choosing foods for their convenience and cost, be sure to consider the nutritional value of foods.  The less packaged a food is, the better quality and nutritional value it can bring you.  Fresh fruits have less sugar and more fiber than packaged ones.  Packaged meats tend to be higher in fat and salt than freshly sliced meats.  In order to make educated choices about your food choices, commit to choosing foods high in fiber, lean protein, vitamins, and minerals and low in calories, sugar, salt, and fat.  The best foods to choose at the store would include lean proteins, whole grains, low fat dairy, water, fruits, and vegetables.  Too costly for you?  So are medical bills, low self esteem, regrets, and wasted time. This may sound harsh or rash, but it’s the truth! You choose.   As always, eat, move, and improve!
