“See every day as an opportunity to better yourself” -Unknown
“Know yourself to Improve Yourself” -August Comte
“Write it on your Heart that every day is the best day of the year” -Ralph Waldo Emerson
Happy New Year! I’m like you. I cannot believe that this year has swiftly come along. The past year is here and gone. It’s bittersweet. Leaving the old and coming into the new. It’s an opportunity to make changes and leave the rough times behind. It’s a very exciting time!
I keep seeing so many posts stating “New Year, New Me”. The thought is to create a new self and leave your old self in the past. While that saying really does sound fantastic, is that what you really want? In my mind,” new” means replacing something “old”.Nothing of the original is salvaged. I mean, do you want to make a brand new you? Do you really dislike your entire being and want to make an entirely new you? I’m sure you do not want to get rd of everything you are. Do you really want to change everything about your person? I sure don’t.
Instead, look to make this year “New Year, Better Me.” Take some time. Reflect on your present circumstances. Where are your strengths? Where are you satisfied with your life? Also, where do you miss the mark? Where would you like to improve? Then, you can focus your time and energy on building better skills, beliefs, and situations to improve your life overall. As Always, Eat, Move, and Improve!
