“Whether I was in a slump or feeling badly or having trouble off the field, the only thing to do was keep swinging.” – Hank Aaron

“Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.” – Winston Churchill

“Winners are not afraid of losing. But losers are. Failure is part of the process of success. People who avoid failure also avoid success.” – Robert T. Kiyosaki

Failure happens.  Everyone fails.  Most people fail more than they achieve anything.  Failure has become a negative stigma in society.  The world tells us that once you fail, you are a failure yourself.  You lack the ability to come back from your failures.  It also tells people that if success is not a sure thing, it is not worth trying at all.  Why bother right?  Not trying puts you in a lot less pain than trying and failing.  So the world and limiting beliefs say.

Many people believe that once you are on a diet or exercise plan, it all will go your way.  The pounds will come off and the choices will be easy.  They expect that results will come only when being perfect.  Here’s the truth: FAILURE WILL HAPPEN when trying to make a lifestyle change.  It’s very hard for people to turn their life around without making mistakes.  Most people quit after making a mistake.  They don’t believe they can overcome that failure.  It’s more comfortable to go back to their old way instead of making mistakes over and over.  Some examples of “failing”on a behavior change plan can include cheating on a diet, missing a workout, missing a meal, or drinking too much soda.

I want you to change your beliefs of failure.  Instead of seeing at a dead end or stopping point, consider it part of the process.  Take a look at failure as a stepping stone.  Love yourself for making the failure.  It means you tried and care about your change.  But, don’t stop there.  Ask questions about the mistake.  Ask “What can I learn from this” or  “how can i prevent that mistake next time”  Consider failure as a learning process.  It will give you clarity, strength, and understanding during your journey.  Failure is just a piece of any kind of undertaking that most people don’t talk about.  Make sure it is something you keep in perspective as a isolated event, and not a life defining moment.  As Always, Eat, Move, and Improve!
